| MBA
(full time) programme of Mahatma Gandhi University is for the
duration of 2 years spread over 4 semesters. Each semester consists
of a minimum of sixteen instructional weeks with a minimum of
50 contact hrs for each course (total contact hrs 560 hrs).
Continuous internal evaluation during the course period, and
the university examination at the end of each semester are conducted. |

:: Course Objectives |
|

To
develop young men and women into professional managers to
manage all sectors of organised economic activity.
To equip the youngsters with conceptual and interpersonal
skills and social purpose for managerial decision-making.

young generation and to make them effective change agents.

:: Course Structure
First Semester |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The
first semester has 8 full courses with 50 hrs of teaching
per course. All the courses offered during the semester are
compulsory. Each full course carries
100 marks: 40 marks internal and 60 marks
external for University Examination. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
:: Second Semester |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| The
second semester has 8 full courses with minimum 50hrs of teaching.
Each full course carries 100 marks: 40 marks internal and 60
marks external. All the courses during this semester are compulsory.
In addition, a viva-voce examination is conducted at the end
of second semester. |

|
|
|
|
|
:: Summer Training |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| At
the end of the second semester all students undergo summer training
for 4 weeks duration with an industrial, business or service
organization by taking up a project study. Each student will
be required to submit a project report to the
department within 3 weeks after the commencement of the 3rd
semester course. The summer project will carry a total of 100
marks out of which 40 marks shall’ be internal, based
on presentation or viva-voce conducted for assessing the summer
placement project |

:: Third Semester |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| The
third semester has 8 full courses comprising 2 compulsory courses
and 6 optional courses. Of the six electives the students has
to choose a minimum of three courses from his area of specialization
and the remaining from the rest of the electives. The summer
placement project evaluation also is considered part of the
3rd semester. |

|
|
|
|
:: Fourth Semester |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| There
are 4 full courses in the 4th semester, consisting of one compulsory
course and three electives. Students have the freedom to choose
the electives in such a way that one completes the eligibility
for specialization in an elective area by completing a total
of 5 courses. |

|
|
|
|
:: Organisation Based
/ Attached Project study |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| The
project study for the 4th semester is a dissertation or problem
centered study. The duration of the project is 8 to 10 weeks.
The project study is done before the completion of the 4th semester.
A general viva-voce examination is conducted at the end of the
semester |

| The
electives in the third and fourth semesters are offered depending
on the preference of students and availability of faculty and
needs of the user system in the institution where the programme
is offered. |

| For
Specialization in any functional area one should complete a
total of 5 elective course during the programme out of which
a minimum of 3 shall be done in the 3^rd semester. The maximum
number of electives that can be chosen from any one area is
limited to 5 courses during the programme. The remaining electives
the students can be chosen from any other elective areas. |

:: Assessment and Grading
Internal assessment |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The
Instructors have the freedom to decide the criteria for the
internal evaluation of each course. However the assessment criteria
may include, internal assessment, tests, assignments, project
work, group/individual class presentations, case studies, seminars,
attendance and class participation. The instructor gives clear
written guidelines regarding the assessment criteria to the
class before the commencement of the course.
The internal assessment results shall be published on the notice
board and the students shall get at least a week for clarifications,
if any, before the external examination for the semester. The
instructor maintains a record of the internal assessment result,
signed by the Director or Head of the Department or College
Principal till such time the University results are announced
for that semester. |

:: External Examination |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
For
all the course, the University conducts a written examination
of the duration of 3 hours, at the end of each semester. The
maximum marks for these examinations are 60 for each paper.
In case a candidate fails to secure the required minimum of
50% marks in the internal assessment one may secure it by repeating
the course altogether in a regular class or by taking the course
with a faculty member assigned by the head of the Department
in a subsequent semester, provided the candidate had failed
to obtain the 50% marks in the first instance. However such
improvement in sessional for a course cannot be attended more
than once. |

|
|
:: Pass and Grades |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The
minimum marks required for a pass in the MBA Programme is 50%.
Candidates who have secured not less than 80% marks aggregate
for all the 4 semesters shall be declared to have passed MBA
degree examination in distinction.
Cadidates who have secured not less than 60% marks in the aggregate
for all the 4 semesters shall be declared to have passed MBA
degree examination in First Class.
Candidates for the MBA degree are eligible to undergo the course
of study in the subsequent semester and to take the examination
of that semester irrespective of the examination results of
the previous semester, provided they have completed all the
formalities of attendance, payment of all fees due to the University
and registration for the examination in the earlier semesters. |
